CHRISTMAS IN HIGH-TECH ERA

Posted on October 31st, 2009 in Christmas | No Comments »

The Christmas spirit is slowly starting to build. In some countries, they start putting up Christmas decorations as early as late October. However, it’s not uncommon to see retailers already making their Christmas products available for sale even in mid-September. This only goes to show that it is never too early to get into the mood of the holiday season.

If anything, the build up is far more exciting than Christmas day itself but not to debase the Holy day. During pre-Christmas day, that is when everything gets crazy. Madness feels up the air and almost everybody is going bonkers especially when it is very close to the very day.

A lot of people are probably running out of ideas what gifts to buy let alone knowing where to buy them. Everybody is rushing up to have them ready before the shops get all cramped with people. Some would even do an up-to-the-last-minute shopping, just in time for the Christmas Eve. Some don’t even make it in time but still this craziness that Christmas brings is all but one of the best parts of the Christmas season.

It is when all of sudden we remember those people we haven’t thought of for months, even years. It is that time of the year when we tend to forget and forgive those who have wronged us. The time when all we can think of is the joy that being with your family and friends brings.

And for those that we can’t meet personally for Christmas, internet is always there to bridge the gap. There’s just so much you can do on the internet nowadays. A simple Christmas greeting card will do just fine. You know what they say that it’s the thought that counts at the end of the day.

So whether or not you get to actually see your loved ones for Christmas, your efforts of reaching out to them is enough for them to feel that they are missed and still being loved despite distance or any circumstance for that matter.

We all have the privilege of utilizing the available technology of tele- and e-communications. At this day and age, there is no shortage of ways on how we can celebrate practically any thing and how we can reconnect and catch up on lost times with your special some ones.

Christmas Music: New Christmas Releases

Posted on October 31st, 2009 in Christmas | No Comments »

Sting and Bob Dylan are currently leading the charge in 2009 with bestselling Christmas albums, but there are others in the on the act too.  In this article, we will take a look at the new Christmas albums that you may want to add to your collection this Holiday season.

Currently sitting atop the bestseller list is Bob Dylan’s “Christmas in the Heart”.  This is Bob Dylan’s first Christmas album and features his unique voice and style singing many Christmas classics including “Little Drummer Boy” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”.  As always with Bob Dylan, the reviews have been mixed; some loved this album and others disliked his performances.  Chances are that if you like Bob Dylan you will be a fan of this album.  And, if you buy it, you will be doing a good deed as all proceeds are donated to Feeding America, an organization dedicated to providing food to the hungry.

Nipping at the heels of Bob Dylan for the top spot will be Sting.  Released on October 26th, Sting’s Christmas offering is entitled “If on a Winter’s Night…”.   Many will buy this album because Sting is one of the greatest musicians of our generation.  However, they need to know what to expect.  This is not an album filled with classic Christmas treasures.  Rather, Sting goes out on a creative limb with his fellow musicians and creates a more artistic Christmas album.  Like Dylan’s offering, many people will buy this one because of the name and about half of them will not like the artistry of it.

David Archuleta, of American Idol fame, has put out a Christmas album entitled “Christmas from the Heart”.  Though the title is like that of Bob Dylan’s album, the albums are entirely different.  If you are an Idol fan, you know David and you know his voice.  The songs, and the voice, are classic.  This certainly will be one of the Bestselling Christmas Albums in 2009.

One album that I am really looking forward to this Holiday season comes from Neil Diamond and is entitled “A Cherry Cherry Christmas”.  Released on October 13, this album contains the Christmas classics.  I particularly enjoyed Neil’s version of “Joy to the World”.  It has the power and joy of “Coming to America” and makes my list for one of the Top Christmas Songs this season.

With his smooth voice, look for Barry Manilow’s album to do well this Christmas season.  His album, entitled “In the Swing of Christmas”, was recently released in October and features both old and new Christmas songs.  Barry Manilow is known for his enthusiastic performances and he does not let us down with this album.  All fans of Barry will enjoy it.

Probably the sentimental favorite this year comes from the Jackson 5.  Their album, named the “Ultimate Christmas Collection” contains 21 songs from the Jacksons, both old and new.  This album features a limited release Michael Jackson song called “Little Christmas Tree” that will tempt many this Holiday Season.

These are just a few of the albums available this season.  From Melissa Etheridge to Olivia Newton-John, many of the stars are coming out with Christmas albums that you may enjoy.

Best Christmas Gifts for Unemployed

Posted on October 30th, 2009 in Christmas | No Comments »

Given the state of today’s economy, as well as the current unemployment rate, there will be many who will find it necessary to cut back on Christmas expenses this year. Chances are, there is at least one person on your Christmas list that is currently unemployed. Deciding what to give this person may be a difficult decision for some. An expensive, frivolous gift that they may not get much use out of is probably not a good decision. For the person who is currently unemployed, a thoughtful, more practical gift will likely be much more appreciated. Here are a few suggestions:

•Everybody loves to greet their friends and family with a fresh Christmas wreath hung on the door! In addition, a Christmas wreath can help bring joy and Christmas spirit to the person who may find it necessary to cut corners on Christmas this year. The person who is unemployed this season will likely not spend money on Christmas decorations.

•Buy them a gift certificate or tickets for some fun event or entertainment that their whole family can enjoy. If they love movies buy a gift certificate to the movies, skating,
sports events are all things they wouldn’t treat themselves to which would be a real treat for them. Also, gift certificates to restaurants are always a great gift.

•Buy a large, useful container, such as a laundry basket or trashcan, and fill it with everyday items. You may also include a few snacks or pampering items they may not think to buy for themselves, such as a package of fresh herbal tea, or some relaxing bath oils or candles.

•Take Christmas to them this year. Bring a little excitement and joy to what might be a bit of a depressing season for them this year. Load up your car with Christmas essentials, such as decorations, Christmas music, cookie or candy making supplies, and a bright, cheerful smile, and haul it all over to their home for some Christmas fun. You could even tie a tree to the top of your vehicle.!

•Think of a creative way to give them money, such as tied to the branches of a money tree. While some may consider a simple gift of money to not have much thought behind it, it may be the most thoughtful gift you could give to the person on your list that is currently unemployed.

How to Make Your Own Vintage Christmas Cards

Posted on October 29th, 2009 in Christmas | No Comments »

A pink frosted Christmas tree, a family inside a jalopy, Santa Claus’ smiling face, holly and mistletoes, angels and puppies by a frosted window, these are only a few images that can be found on a vintage Christmas card. We should all take the time to appreciate how these cards were made. Unlike the commercial ones we see neatly packed in shiny boxes in bookstores or gift shops, previous cards were made delicately by hand and are unique. As modernization came upon us, Christmas cards became easy to produce by machines.

This Christmas, a holiday treat would be to bring back an old tradition of making your own vintage Christmas card.

#1 Pick out materials you can use for your card. Basic things would be colored papers, color markers, scissors, crayons, pencils, old newspapers or magazines, watercolors and glue. You can include glitter dust, foil, stencils, tracing materials and even vintage image cut-outs.

#2 Start cutting your card into squares or to whatever shape you wish. You can have it shaped like an angel or a <a target=”_blank” href=”http://www.yuletidegifts.com/shop/vintage-1946-90/Artificial-Trees”>Christmas tree</a>. Sketch a simple image for starters or cut out a picture you can use as the centerpiece of your card. From there, you can add some holiday greetings or you can leave it purely full of images of Christmas old.

#3 Color your card to finish the design. You may use watercolor, pastel crayons, poster paints or plain crayons. Adding extra accessories like glitter or yarns to make it look prettier is up to you. You can then look for a simple poem on Christmas as a message inside the card or a personal note can be written.

Christmas is the season for giving and sending your loved ones a handmade vintage Christmas card is a message they will surely appreciate. It is a simple thought of love, kindness and best wishes for family and friends in the best holiday season of the year.

Top 10 Classic Christmas Albums

Posted on October 28th, 2009 in Christmas | No Comments »

Christmas albums compliment the holiday festivities and contribute to the overall spirit of the occasion.  But without these top 10 classic Christmas albums, your holiday collection is not complete.

You know the feeling.  You might be in the mall when it happens or you may be listening to the radio in your car.  And then you get that feeling.

It is the feeling that the Holiday season is upon us.  And, often, that first feeling comes when we hear the first Christmas song playing in late October or early November.  It gives me goose bumps and that feeling of anticipation that the best time of the year is upon us.

Have you realized that in the movies there is always a song playing in the background?  Why is this?  It is because music adds to whatever sentiment or emotion that we may experience.  Thus, music is so important during the Holiday season.  One listen to the “Little Drummer Boy” puts me in an entirely different place.  And, when I travel during the Holidays, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” reminds me of the great times ahead with my family in my house.

There is new Christmas music coming out every year and I enjoy listening to it.  A couple of years ago, John Groban took the Christmas season by storm with his “Noel” album.  I try to stay up to date with the top Christmas songs and best Christmas albums to see if anything new has hit the charts.

But none of these new acts will take the place of my favorite classic Christmas albums.  For example, you can place any new artist next to Nat King Cole, and I’ll tell you who my choice will be without even viewing the competition.  Nat King Cole has withstood the test of time and his Christmas album to me is one of the best Christmas albums of all time.

While Nat King Cole leads my list, there are so many other great Christmas albums that it is hard to limit the list to just 10 albums.  I am a huge fan of the following Christmas albums:  Andy Williams Christmas Live-Christmas Treasures, Ella Fitzgeralds’s Christmas, the Carpenters Christmas Portrait, Amy Grant Home for Christmas and then of course we must add both Frank Sinatra’s A Jolly Christmas and Dean Martin’s Christmas with Dino.

Following those, there are some other Holiday Albums that myself and my family really enjoy.  The one that leads the list for entertainment is the How the Grinch Stole Christmas Soundtrack.  My kids also enjoy the Boogie Woogie Christmas and the Christmas Remixed CD as these put new twists on the old classics.

Everyone has their personal favorites.  These are my personal top 10 classic Christmas albums.

Find these albums and many more on the Best Christmas Music page at the Christmas Store Online, where you can find the Best Christmas Gifts this year. The author, Richard Mas, is a retail specialist and senior editor at The Christmas Store Online.

Christmas Colors: Use Color to Emphasize Your Vintage Christmas Decorations

Christmas Colors: Use Color to Emphasize Your Vintage Christmas Decorations

When you think of Christmas colors, do you see bright red and green? Don’t stop there! Using some non-traditional colors can really enhance a vintage Christmas decoration theme.

For a Victorian look, think in terms of jewel tones. Intense and vibrant or deep and regal, rich shades of red, blue, green, mustard gold, and purple all work beautifully in period decor.

The Victorians loved color and used it everywhere, so don’t be shy. And don’t worry about using colors together! In fact, fabrics with a period-type print like a dark multi-color paisley make a superb addition; try layering them over a tablecloth or draping under an arrangement of greens.

Single-color themes can also be very effective. Consider using various shades of reds ranging from dusty pink to deep burgundy, or try the range of purples from pale lilac to deep plum.

Pale pastels, though less historically accurate, work very well in Victorian period holiday decor. For a truly dramatic theme dripping with elegance and sophistication, try using only shades of white, ecru, and cream. Highlighted with lush greenery, ropes of craft-store pearls and plenty of both gold and silver tone metallics, an all-white theme can be absolutelty breathtaking.

Whatever colors you choose, don’t forget the bling. Shiny metalic trims, delicate filigree ornaments, gilt ribbons, strings of gold craft beads, you name it – if it ads glitter and shine, it can be a great accent in a Victorian-themed decor.

To establish a rustic decorating theme, look for natural tones: the warm hues of wood, the the deep green of fir and pine, vibrant apple and cranberry reds, and the gold of a crackling fire.

Neutral fabrics like linen or even burlap make a great foundation for simple arrangements of greens, fruit, and candles. But a cheery red or green gingham check can be a great accent, perhaps topped with a basket of fragrant pine cones.

Keep metalics to a minimum for authentic rustic style, but a few gleaming brass or pewter accents are great.

If a retro Christmas is your style, color is key and the brighter, the better! The authentic holidays prints of the postwar period features bright, intense reds and greens in bold graphic prints. For a real fifties vintage look, don’t go over the top with metalics, but add plenty of sparkle with shiny glass ornaments and strands of silver tinsel. And big, bright multi-color lights are guaranteed to give a retro style to your tree.

However if sixties chic is what you crave, get creative with color. Go for clear, bright tones, and don’t stop with red and green. Yellow, lime, turquoise, and magenta can be part of your theme, and don’t forget to accent with white, black, and silver.

Love vintage decorating themes, but don’t have a big budget for buying pricey antique ornaments? No problem. Find our how you can create the look of any era, including the lavish luxury of Victorian Christmas decorations and jazzy retro Christmas style, without breaking the bank.

How to Find Wholesale Christmas Prices on Just About Everything

Posted on October 27th, 2009 in Christmas | No Comments »

Christmas is a beautiful time of the year and a time to rejoice with family, friends, and associates. Here are a number of ideas to help you obtain wholesale Christmas deals on almost anything.

One of the most exciting activities of the holiday is trimming your home. Seasonal lights come in a range of colors and sizes, adding a joyful feeling to any décor. Ornaments can be utilized on the tree, in centerpiece arrangements, and in garland. Additional decorations using angels, snowflakes, manger scenes, and Father Christmas can be placed both inside and outside. The best time to acquire Christmas decorations is at after Christmas sales when everything is greatly discounted. For current season deals, shop at dollar stores and outlet stores. Wholesale Christmas prices can also be located at very early sales in September or October.

Many families mail Christmas letters during this season. One of the most inexpensive places to purchase Christmas cards is over the Internet. The choices are endless and prices are easily deeply discounted from what you pay at stationary stores. For an even cheaper alternative, create your own using your printer and card making software. If you have children, use simple craft supplies and create fancier cards. For formal photograph post cards, take your own photograph to print shops and print them yourself.

What would the holidays be without presents? One plan for purchasing wholesale Christmas gifts is to purchase more than one of the same item. For instance, buy your teachers and neighbors the same present and sometimes you can get quantity discounts. A lot of online stores will give discounts with as few as 5 items and a few give larger price reductions for larger quantities.

Finally, there are a lot of methods to use to save money while planning a fantastic Christmas gathering. Large warehouse centers carry tableware and silverware at lower prices, as well as ready to eat party trays and even complete meals. For a large quantity of serving supplies, look in restaurant supply companies.

With just a small amount of effort, you can find wholesale Christmas discounts on virtually everything you need for your Christmas holiday.

I have great interest in wholesale china goods such as wholesale cell phones, wholesale watches, wholesale jewelry, wholesale shoes, wholesale fashion products and wholesale beauty products.
As one of famous china wholesalers, I have engaged in this line for more than 10 years.
I am glad to share experiences of china wholesale with you.
